well, as some of you know, it has been heartbreaking for me to say good by to cheesy gooey pizza. my last vegan pizza, a trader joe’s deal, was VERY disappointing. but! back to the drawing board…and a good result!
i bought the prepared crust (brown rice crust), but i sauteed the veg. mushrooms with basil, garlic, spinach and fresh tomato.
the toppings were amazing!! the crust wasn’t totally tantalizing. it was crunchy, which is good. but kind of a funny flavor. more toppings would have helped there.
all in all, a definite improvement from the last vegan pizza.

Hiya… Just saw your post here. I’m not vegan (just vegetarian), but in New Zealand we have a pizza chain called Hell, and they do an excellent vegan pizza, using avocado, refried beans, capsicum, jalapeno, tomatoes and salsa – I find that the refried beans, in particular, give the pizza back the nice gooey texture, and the flavours are all just sooooooo good! Good luck in your quest!
Comment by rosathemad January 2, 2008 @ 10:52 amthat sounds so good! another reason to visit new zealand!
maybe i can try doing something like that at home. i’m just not good at crust, is all.

So if you want to find vegan pizza that will not dissapoint. You must try Pizza Fusion, it’s definitely way closer to home than new zealand, seeing as their opening up all around the country.
