so, last night i went shopping specifically for eggs to make for my cody bear. he’s had it rough and i thought he could use some scrambled eggs. plus, pickles has not tried them yet.

now the dogs love me even more. well, they love me most when i’m in the kitchen, love me somewhat less in other rooms.
so, yes, um the vet. poor cody bear. as if his stomach and nervous system weren’t enough of an issue, champ hurt his back! he had a chiropractic adjustment and we made a second appt for today.
this morning he was happily rough-housing with pickles, and you could tell he was feeling better. the follow up x-rays showed a healthy spine.
of course….i don’t need to even set my alarm clock any more. partially because i’ve not been going to work for being sick and all, but also, cody bear is in the unfortunate routine of barfing before dawn. we go back friday to further work on the stomach and spleen diagnoses, but for now, he looks happier with the back issue…
plus! my mom is coming to town tonight! to coddle me! i’m feeling like i need some coddling. and perhaps chinese food.
coddling and chinese food.

i really should have planted these guys weeks ago!

now that we’ve gotten our cheeky garlic shots out of the way, i have to give you some sad news:
most of my succulents have died from the terribly cold weather! and you KNOW how much i love those guys!
i…i…i think i’ll be o.k.

drunkbunny has requested a “mega-enhance zoom (TM)” of cody bear’s cute face that was on my earlier ultra-boring post. naturally i can produce!

“why is he concentrating so hard?” you may be wondering….
well,….he was looking for the perfect place to make peepers.
oh my god i’m so bored.
home sick today, and probably will be for a few days. it’s this weird freaky contagious crap that sent me to the hospital years ago. so here i am.
bored bored bored and my keyboard is crapping out on me. nuts!
obviously with so little going on, i will post pictures of the doglets. obviously.
here’s one now.

i shouldn’t go to the vet today, but cody’s ailment is going haywire, so it’s a must do. they’re so good. even the 8 month old puppy just wants to sleep today.
this is her normally.

personally, i think she is tired from yesterday’s growth spurt. i swear, between 6am and midnight she shot up 2 inches.
what else… hmmmm.
there’s a cat eating a piece of newspaper in my front yard.
and that’s allll i got!
hope you had time to waste. if not, sorry i enticed you to read this stupid post.

disclaimer: before you read this post, please consider refraining from offering veterinary advice.
sunday night and i’m feeling pretty blue. cody bear’s condition has taken another serious down turn. it started tuesday and has gotten worse. we go to the vet tomorrow. i spent today at urgent care and am now suckin’ down antibiotics. i thought i would cheer myself up with a few images from christmas. i know, i know. that was days ago. but humor me, ok? you may see something cute…
ok, first of all, my favorite harbinger of the holidays, the cardinal…

and now, “faux faux faux, merrrry christmas!’….

my mom decorated her christmas tree, which was actually a 7 ft high aloe plant, with fake birds and fake votive candles.
next we have the “successory” shot.

it would probably says “serenity” beneath it. but my version would say “expletive expletive cold!”
oh, and the christmas merriment with symbolism:

romping under santa’s scrutiny. and…

frolic on a poinsettia rug. how festive.
of course, we have christmas tchotchkies…

i’ll update y’all on cody bear tomorrow night.

having received the blessing of the christmas potato, pickles has returned home.
she definitely loved being at my parents’ house. she’s grampa’s girl and was showered with love. between the two dogs they received:
one soccer ball, a collar for cody bear, a stuffed tiki toy, a zebra, a donkey, a fleecy ball, a squeaky seahorse, venison jerky, some chews, a big pirate rubber chicken, a small angel rubber chicken, a lamb, a llama, and this very special pendant from her aunt, uncle and kitty cousin.

so fitting. the dog truly is a mess. i should consider changing her name from pickles to piggles, the way she wallows in the mud and roots around in the dirt.
now, we’re home and she is exhausted from the drive. it was very cold while were gone, so the cat that normally dislikes pickles is sucking the body heat right out of the poor puppy.
let’s check in on them as they spoon…

aw. precious spooners with your matching white tips, bibs and schnozzes. look at their paws all nestled closely….

but wait, something isn’t right. it appears as if everyone but cody bear is on cody bear’s bed!
poor queazy guy. the girls have relegated him to the tiny puppy bed.

“chicks…”

what IS it cody bear?

the barfing started at 6am. it continued till past 8. poor cody bear. after giving him his metaclopramide and stuffing his breakfast full of his thymex, zypan, garlic, some chinese herbal remedy, and spleen medication i started getting ready to take pickles for a walk. cody bear smiled and wagged. i was like, “no kiddo. seriously?” he was acting all smily and non-barfy. i said “you have to go in the carrrrrr.”
even on his non barf days car rides give him angst. but he hopped right in. he and pickles and i were off to the park!
he did great. must have felt better after barfing because he didn’t even act irritated with the other dogs walking around.

as you can see, we had to walk between that fence and the egret, sending at least 20 ducks roaring into the pond. the dogs were SO GOOD! pickles sort of strained at the leash, excited, but she didn’t bark or pull or freak out. and cody bear….such a goodbear on his walk!

i even dropped their leashes for a tiny while so they could romp in the frost, but they got too excited so i called them back. they bolted back to me immediately.
so, it turned out to be a good morning anyway. ok….back to life…

and i made the traditional christmas guacamole.

both were delicious.
and you missed the annual christmas cuteness. even cuter this year with the additon of a border collie puppy.

aw! look at the happiness after a round of dog play.
you also missed cozying up around the high tech yule log. bummer!

love you big sis and big brother in law!

my parents. they love birds. they have four tiny parrotlets they coddle indoors. outdoors, they have multiple bird feeders for a variety of birds. and native flowers that attract the local hummers and native trees that have great allure to the local seed and insect eaters.
and it’s not that they don’t like cats. they just don’t like cats eating their guests. so naturally…they were quite pleased with cody bear’s act of ornithological heroism yesterday. click here for that. yesterday’s weather was beastly, but as promised today was biting cold but sunny. and here we have their favorite visitor:

buzzy says these birds are non-indigenous punks. aggressive little pigs. i agree with the aggression part. the entire morning they read me the riot act.
but…as long as i stayed more than 15 feet away, they remained still for a few shots.

you can learn more about these birds, and what they sound like when they’re swearing at me, by clicking here, the smartest bird smartskies in the world.
here’s a shot that shows you how tiny this little bastard is. (i know that sounds mean, but really….he was kind of being a jerk about getting his picture taken at first!)

and here’s an artsy shot…just ‘cuz…

the birds are not at all gracious to cody bear for lengthening their tiny, rapid winged lives.
