i know i know!
you guys miss seeing cody bear!
he’s still adorable and cuddly and he still loves having his picture taken. i took a couple of these shots first, then decided i would take a couple of pickles….
but shortly after snapping pix of the puppin, cody bear was all “MEEEE!”
i look down from the bed and there he is….all cute and pathetic…
he has no idea what the camera is, only that it is some form of attention.

oh wow. what a week. what a lousy week. thank god i had some dogs and my cat to make me laugh and give me some lovins’.
i won’t even bore you with the crap but it was a collection of incidents from all facets of our tiny world here. work, friends, family, etc. you get the picture.
so i shall list the good stuff:
since i haven’t been riding my bike(s) enough lately ( i think it’s the heat) i’m treating myself to a new helmet after my next payday.
cody bear has only barfed 2 times in the last 3 weeks and still weighs almost 50 pounds.
my cat got sick while i was out of town but is finally feeling like her old kitty self again. she has only been sick once in 13 years! some sort of kitty cold.
alli is coming home for a visit next weekend! should be good fun to have a friend in town.
* plans are under way with my new business partner. i can’t wait to tell you all about it!!!!
only 4 more months till my sister and her husband are here for a visit! the dogs are going to love them!
so, see, there’s alot to be cheery about.
now here is a picture of some canine silliness:
hoju and maggie the weekend i visited them in cali!

it was nice to visit california. my favorite parts were the cool air, the sound of the waves and the beautiful vegetation.
i definitely enjoyed the beach time! here are some scenes from an evening on the pier:
so, that’s a sea gull. moving on…
a crab. a couple people were tossing their net and bringing up these tiny little guys.
fish n’ chips, bait AND clam chowder!
oh and here is a man and his dog on the pier

the dog toys have been laundered!!!
they were getting kind of scungie. the pet sitter is coming and i didn’t want her to get too grossed out playing with the dogs.
cold water wash, very little liquid detergent, gentle cycle, lay flat to dry. it takes the squeekers a couple days to dry out and not sound like the toys have emphysema.

welcome to goodbear’s house. well, her front patio, at least.
my first pair of friends have started their move. these folks to portland. their real estate agent demanded they get rid of their many potted plants. i guess she thinks they were cluttering the yard or something. foolish woman.
so i am fostering some plants! as you can see, they’ve assimilated with my existing potted plants quite well!

the heat has been getting to everyone. it was time to get out of town…and, after leaving town….ride a train down a hole for several hundred feet!
we took a day trip and went on a mine tour! it was 47 degrees F below ground. 100 degrees back home and we had to wear sweatshirts. hurray!
you ride a train down. well…sort of a train. more of a picnic bench on iron wheels.
they bundled us in yellow jackets and gave us helmets and battery packs with 8 hour lights. they explained the history, techniques and lore . . .
OF WHICH I REMEMBER NOTHING!
i was just there for the cold air!
last saturday, over breakfast, we thought about this hair brained day trip. glad we did it. i suggest you follow through with one of your hair brained ideas.
what did YOU do this weekend?
ah, thursday. let’s review the week so far….
first, saturday’s vet apptointment. you would be correct in assuming it was cody bear that went to the doctor, not pickles. he is after all….very special. (ahem….cough cough)
this trip was a mysterious lump. more details to follow. but first….and this is exciting and many long time readers who understand his gastroparesis issue will understand….cody bear weighs 49 pounds!!!! that’s the most he has ever weighed. i’ve always thought 50 was a goal for this little barfer, but i’ll take 49!!!! all his people friends tell him he’s a meaty bear!
about the bump. it’s very small. less than an inch from his eyeball. given that two of cody bear’s friends (younger than him) received cancer diagnoses last month, i took him in right away. you guys….he was such a good boy. he was pinched, squeezed, poked, scraped and he just lay there. then he stood, legs quivering while they stuck a needle in his face to get a sample. his head remained perfectly still. i love this little bear so much! it is probably an infection and i have to “soak his face” (not as bad as it sounds) twice daily. (for more info on cody bear’s gastroparesis, click “gastroparesis” in the tag cloud to the left)
now regarding pickles….
ha ha, of course i won’t leave it at that. she has a border collie meetup/playdate saturday. exciting. oh, and she is so sick of the heat. she gets mopey in the heat. we had to take two weeks off from agility, but she isn’t protesting, which is good.
our week has been busy last night dinner with a friend, then later other friends came by to chill. tonight, a movie. tomorrow night cody bear has to work so pickles and i will tag along.
saturday is going to be jammed with errands and what not.
work is going well this week.
you can follow my dogdailyphoto blog each day if you’re bored and need to see some cutesies.

i had gone to the lake with a friend to photograph dragonflies when all of a sudden a large shadow could be seen over the water in the background through my viewfinder.
once it landed i walked down to the shore, but he was on to me. he kept wading farther away.
slowly wading. i really wanted to get a picture of him spearing a fish for you guys, but he was not really into giving me a photo op. i got bored, he got farther away, i went back to my dragonflies.
