saturday night.
watching snl, sitting at my desk editing photos.
pickles gets tired, walks into her crate and lays down.
the cat comes up. she pats me on the leg. i let her jump up. she purrs then pops down.
she walks toward the crate.
pickles sits up.
the sniff each other through the open door.
spree walks in. pickles looks at her like she’s a space alien.
cat rubs against the dog a couple times then makes her way to the back of the crate. lays down.
dog looks confused…then lays back down.
and there you have it.
weirdness.

the muffins were so excited they went to jump through it at the same time. fortunately they are smartskies and aborted before they jumped and got stuck in there together.

let me just preface by saying…we had agility tonight…and damn pickles was fast…faster than EVER!
11 hours ago:
i came home for lunch, like i usually do. the dogs and i jumped on the couch for our greet, like we usually do. something wasn’t right.
pickles armpits. they were…wet. they were….creamy.
what was that smell?
sunscreen
“mmm. i’ve been busy while you were at work.”
border collie puppies! in their chewing stage, no less!
…
4 hours ago….agility class:
our first run. i’m winded. doesn’t make sense. . . . i’ve been working out.
t says, “wow, pickles is moving faster than those agilty dogs at the trials. like lightening.”
it was true. about 3 weeks ago i had resigned to having the worlds slowest border collie. tonight she was burning up the agility course. apparently the lubricated doggie armpits are the key!
of course, she’s sacked out now…
not only was she fast…she was infallible.
one hour ago….
“but, is she ok?”
no worries cody bear. in 6 hours she will be recharged and ready to romp with you in the back yard.
apparently we’re recharged for agility. all three of us were fading out, but…maybe we’re back?
30 minutes ago…
“it’s on!!!”

about bath day….
while cody bear appreciates the snuggling (with the bubbles), pickles is personally affronted! “how dare you get me wet AND take all my dirt away?”
but the joyous times afterwards! oh my! they romp around the self serve dog wash, playing…and…retail shopping. (really? your dogs…you don’t have money.)

some of you may have heard that border collies are smart. some of you mayyyy have heard they can be difficult.
well, we had our little angel for a year or so. then, suddenly and with adorable energy, little miss pickles found her inner hooligan.
her agility teacher has called her “perfect pickles”, but last night miss picky pants was sent home early from class.
she is so stubborn. she blows me off. she sasses off to cody bear. then….she pretends to be snuggly and loving.
we’re on to her, aren’t we cody bear?
oh pickles. you’re in for a world of learnin’.

but things are slowing down. temporarily.
