wow….what a week.

i have some news. not all of it is good, but none of it is TOO bad.
ok.
had a yard sale this weekend. i hate them but decided to do it for two reasons: 1. i need a little extra cash. things have been tight lately and cody bear has a vet appointment next monday. trying not to use my credit card. 2. there is just too much stuff in my house. i made $250 and my friend m. made 50ish and d. made 58. and i got rid of a bunch of crap jewelry i never wear anymore. the “cd’s for $1.00 each” was great. sold about 30 of those, some of wich buzzy bee girl left behind when she moved to cali.
moving on….cody bear is sick again. i think we are getting it in check, but between the onset of a new flair up and a couple mysterious bumps…well,….i best just take him in. i have learned he DEFINITELY has to have filtered or bottled water. city water is too hard for him and long term usage (a week or more) will really set him off.
on a related note: my pur water filtration system broke. AFTER i spent 60 bucks and a huge box of filters, opened it and used one.
business-wise: we have been working VERY hard on things and we’re having fun. our new studio lighting comes in. these will be continuous in addition to all the strobes and light boxes in the studio already. the new lights will be great to have for dogs that don’t like the pop of the strobe when getting their picture taken. we’re also getting 2 new cameras!!! also, our pr person worked hard on a pr plan and press release which is going out today!
the best part of all: it’s getting colder and i’m trying to put off turning the heat on until i can’t handle it anymore. well it’s working well because last night both dogs and the cat snuggled up around me and it was so comfortable. my head got cold though….maybe i should get another pet. what’s a good head warming pet? rabbit? bush baby? maybe i’ll just sleep in a hoody….

hi everyone!!!
so glad it is friday. been waiting for that pay check. going to pay college loan, buy dog food, put petrol in the car, that sort of stuff.
i have a mellow weekend planned: dog walking, movie rental, bike riding house cleaning, taking some pictures.
oh speaking of pictures, here is one from last weekend’s trip to the botanical gardens:

all you friends of cody bear and pickles, they’re doing fine. i’ll try to get some pictures up this weekend. i think pickles has finally stopped growing. she’s up to 38 pounds but a very tall girl.

sigh.
i know.
i haven’t written much lately. busy with the photography business and busy trying (unsuccessfully) to get my life straightened out.
cody bear and pickles are doing great. we just finished a super long walk in the cool fall air.
“why haven’t we heard about insects lately?” you’re asking. right? you’re asking that?
well, i have to admit…my heart wasn’t really into it after buzzy and dr. bee left town.and also, strangely….the bees have disappeared. i’ve always had bees sleeping here. but not for months.
what i did have was 7 black widows on my front porch. i had a friend come over one night after i realized they were there. we launched a wild assault and killed 6 that night. i killed on the day before.
they’re gone now. can’t have them there. too dangerous for the munchkins.
so…fly, mosquito, spider. but no bee.

must there always be so much cuteness?
no wonder i never get anything done around here! sweet babies are always looking at me, trying to be adorable.
paws and muzzles and bellies…
so much snuggling, so little time.

i was driving south on a main road when i saw this convertible that looked familiar. i was sure it was a shelby cobra, the kind of car my dad used to race in the 60’s. so i pulled up next to this guy in his cool car and i asked him about his shelby. after chatting at the red light, and again while driving beside eachother, he invited me and my family to this weekend’s club cobra barbeque!
my dad had a great time chatting with all the car owners. everyone was very nice. and i had a great time photographing these very pretty cars.
i don’t know much about these cars. my dad raced them long before i was born. and to be honest….after seeing the pictures of his wreck….i’m glad my mom and i weren’t there when that happened. we would have had heart attacks!
our host let us know that all of the 20 + cars were replicas, but some people race them monthly and each car is impeccably taken care of.
i think this one is my favorite:
my mom loved the orange one, my dad loved them all. there was a silver one for sale . . .
but i just don’t think i can come up with the cash by next father’s day!
it was a beautiful day, as you can see by the sky.
i love this one, too…

i know what my normal blog readers are thinking:
“goodbear,….you’ve never posted this many pictures in a row without throwing a dog shot in there.”
oh you know me so well! of COURSE there was a dog there. meet murphy in her shelby cobra!
again, it was a great day. john was really nice so i’m glad we got to chat at the stop light. it IS ok to talk to strangers if they’re in a certain kind of car!

hi everyone! ready for the weekend?
i’m not at peace right now because some of my friends think i’m actually deeper than i probably am. so, i thought i would confess some things here…on my blog, for all the world (ok, just a couple hundred people) to see.
1. i watch survivor…and big brother. alot of my friends say they don’t watch tv, they read. that’s cool. but i watch some fluffy television. i’m at peace with that.
2. my two celebrity crushes are gordon buchanen and jeff probst. there, ….i said it. now i will just sit back and wait for one of them to call me.
3. i failed as a vegan because i love pizza toooo much. sorry cows.
4. i don’t know the capitals of many u.s. states.
hmmm. that’s all i can think of now. i’ know there’s more dark and ugly secrets…i just can’t remember them.
now….what you really want to know is….”how are those crazy dogs of yours, goodbear?”
thank you for asking. the answer is:
they’re fast these days.

the birds are tweeting, the air is cool,
dust is rising because the paws are flying. cody bear and pickles are running around the yard like loonies.
in other news, picky had a play date with her new border collie friend last night:

in other NOT so noteworthy news:
saw spamalot sunday. loved it! i am having terrible allergies this week. i’m having cocopuffs for breakfast.
and that’s life here today.

so…a list of highlights from friday’s wedding ceremony, perhaps?
1. wore 3 inch heels…the right one broke after an hour. i stuck the night out balancing on a dangling heel.
2. the groom wore shorts. not sure why i bought a new skirt and shirt….
3. i may have abandoned my date for a few minutes to snuggle the wedding puppy.
4. there were two crashers, my friend leslie (just kidding…she just changed her rsvp status!) and this little moth.
5. the bride and groom are both professional photographers, (as were about 30% of the guests) so they decided not to hire a photog. instead they had a portable studio set up in the back and the guests triggered the shutter with their foot. the lighting was good. and…well, as you could guess…that little feature got busier and busier as more drinks were imbibed.
6. i didn’t get any cake.
7. it was an open bar. when i ran out of ones…i started tipping him with cookies i smuggled from the buffet area.
8. the entire event took place under the watchful eyes of this jolly buddha.
that has to mean good fortune, right?
a fun time was had by all.

and then september 13th came. that’s the day i found cody bear, a tiny little ball of fur in cage one at the humane society. quiet and cuddly. he was a giant fluffy head and a tiny little body. and now he’s a gigantic bear!

one who is quite used to having his picture taken.

a fuzzy dog who is very aware that he is cherished!
and happens to shed a bunch. oh well.
