the dog toys have been laundered!!!
they were getting kind of scungie. the pet sitter is coming and i didn’t want her to get too grossed out playing with the dogs.
cold water wash, very little liquid detergent, gentle cycle, lay flat to dry. it takes the squeekers a couple days to dry out and not sound like the toys have emphysema.

pickles is turning ONE tomorrow! happy birthday pickles! what better way to end goodbear’s party season. that’s right, one last party…tonight.
as i approached the cashier with 4 bottles of wine, 2 cases of beer, one grolsch, paper plates and 2 packs of AA batteries, he says to me, “here comes the party.”
to which i ALMOST replied, “my dog is turning one this weekend.”
walking to the car i thought, “this IS sort of silly.” but then i smiled with the thought that i know so many great people that want to have fun and love my dogs.
and then i started wondering why the hell i’m trying so hard to be such a hostess lately. who knows, but we’re having a good time.
anyway, back to the point of this post. pickles is turning 1. many friends have asked, “what does pickles want for her birthday?” the real question is “what does pickles need?” nothing. the dogs still have unopened christmas presents.
when cody bear turned one he asked everyone he knew to make a donation to the shelter he was adopted from. pickles is doing the same. the two are quite competetive: she hopes to raise more than he did, he is confident she won’t because she isn’t as …fluffy as he is. siblings!

stilllife asked, “is she tired” after her dog day care? the short answer is “yes”….but not for long.
post day care pickles:

later...that same evening...she falls asleep with her head up.
and naturally cody bear sneaks up behind me as if to ask, “why? why focusing on the schmickle so much?….i’m the one who is awake, after all.”

cody bear definitely looked less enthusiastic at lunch. meanwhile, pickles is playing her heart out at day care.
that’s ok, cody bear has been sick all week, so he probably needs the rest.
anyway….gosh everyone. i’m so sorry i haven’t blogged in a while. pickles is missing from lunch and goodbear is missing from blogville. we’ve been really busy. cool stuff has happened to blog about, but it seems so long ago.
i guess the big news is….well, pickles is going to be one year old on sunday. we’re having a party tomorrow. yes, i AM being serious.
i’ll blog more tonight. give you the details on miss pickles’ birthday extravaganza.
once again, sorry it’s been so long. i know some of you have missed seeing my little furpods. they’re fine. cody bear over did it, so he’s a little queazy, but they’re both still hell on paws!

i’ll tell you what happened here: goodbear went away for ten days, and EVEN THOUGH buzzybeegirl stopped by in the interim to brush the bear….stuff grows, man. stuff grows.
i got back at a wretched hour this morning. pickles was the dirtiest she has ever been and cody bear was a motley wad of fluff. 1st order of business: bath that nasty pickles. next bidness:…..brush the bear.
pickles: “face it…fur happens”
people ask me all the time: “he’s soooo sofffft….how often do you brush him?”
i think “often” is the word. “often.”
….by the way….it’s really good to be back home. home IS where the dog is.

so, i’m leaving tomorrow and i’m not packed. i can do it before work tomorrow, i suppose. i sure hope my boss finds it in his heart to let me leave work early…
so i can spend a couple hours with these babies before i head back east:
i’m glad to be seeing my family this week, but it hit me tonight…how am i gonna sleep without my munchkins.
they better not forget who i am!
they both got baths this weekend so they won’t gross out the pet sitter. they’re all soft and shiny. the cat is….indifferent.

phone rings
d: “hey goodbear…are you bringing pickles to day care?”
gb: “oh sssshhhit!”
and thus began my day.
work was a mess. i must have dropped the f-bomb 50 times by 9:30. friday’s are usually cake, but we were slammed. then around 3….dead quiet. i tiptoed out 30 minutes early to go pick up pickles from day care and get home in time to watch the cats get clobbered through the static on my television. must get converter box today.
pickles had fun at day care….eventually. at first she just watched everyone play and clung to d. but then she got her sea paws and tried some romping. she gets intimidated if too many dogs are playing rough at once.
once i got there, she decided to parade all of the cool new toys in front of me. “look at THIS one!”
“ooh. nice toy pickles.”
“look at THIS one.”
“sweetie, that’s just a tennis ball, we have those at home.”
here she is with her new friend bella, a labradoodle in need of a good brushing. bella and pickles were destined to be friends: it’s march and they’re both still wearing christmas collars.
now it is time to start cleaning and packing, then shopping for supplies for trip and for the pets while i’m gone. and a hair cut at 1. and finish a web project for a client. it is such a beautiful day, i wish i could just take the dogs to the wash. oh well. cleaning is JUST as fun…(choke)

took pickles with us to cody bear’s vet appointment. she was intrigued with the examination. when she finally got bored she tried to eat a rubber glove that was on the counter. she almost swallowed it whole. puppies!
he’s fine, by the way!
here the dogs are acting serious. they’re being extra good so i will let them outside for late night romping in this shot.
i am getting excited for this weekend. i will be busy working AND doing fun stuff, but all should bring out some cool blog posts… i’m hoping.
i’m also getting anxious to get home and see my family!
