we don’t get to visit my parents as much as i’d like to.  and we’ve only taken one trip since i got the new camera.  they have a really nice garden that my step dad has spent years working on.  he loves flowers, but his more eccentric garden item:

frog.jpg

little statues of cartoony type yard animals!  i started the day taking pictures of perrenials and my adorable dog, cody bear, but these whimsical plaster statues kept getting in the way.

turtle.jpg

they’re EVERYWHERE!  12″ earth worms. turtles with gerber baby smiles.  squirrels.  birds.  mostly frogs though. lots of frogs.  occasionally a gnome or ceramic mushroom.  one 3 foot high saint.  (probably st. frances of asisi)

under trees. on or beside rocks.   nestled in the flower beds.  every now and then you see one IN a tree.  soon there will be more statues than plants.

and yes, for father’s day, i AM giving him a ceramic animal.  maybe a giant butterfly with a playful expression on his face.

I love them. They are so cute and add a lot to the garden. A dog statue would be nice. 🙂

I have 2 gnomes: Albert Noddy Scuttlebutt and his big brother, Henry Leafbow Scuttlebutt. They, unlike the frog and turtle you have pictured here, look life-like. Gnomes are real… right?

good idea gina. i will keep my eyes open for a dog statue for his father’s day gift.

Love the frog! I am glad there are gnomes in the garden too. Very important for a balanced ceramic vibe.
