last night we went for a nice long bike ride after dark. good stuff. no one was on the streets because we went around 10:30. it’s sort of good to get back into the ole habit! i’ve been riding alot, even with the kombi in the shop.
in other news….i have a giganctic announcement!
ok, some of you know i’ve had a part time dog photography business on the side. well, one of the photographers in the studio where i work is partnering with me and we’re offering the first full service dog photography business in our town! she’s awesome! 30 years in the biz, unbelievable talent. cool, eh? i will do all the on location stuff and she will do all the studio prints. it has been really fun setting up our packages and getting our marketing materials in order. wish us luck!
ho hum. what else? i have to go to a wedding friday. i hate weddings, actually. well, no…it’s receptions i hate. the ceremonies are ok. expect an update saturday, as i expect there will be some goofy things to photograph.
speaking of goofy things to photograph… there are ony 11 more shopping days till my birthday! hello new macro! just kiddin’.
and speaking of “just kidding”….my boss ordered new business cards for me. i’ve been here 4 years and never known what my job title is. well, the new cards say “supreme commander.” watch out everyone!
back at you soon.

so, i have just finished breakfast:
you see, i can’t eat breakfast before 8:30 am. i’ll get sick. so i eat breakfast in my office every morning. check out my new desktop scanner in the back. i love it! my old one kept jamming and everyone in the office knew when i was scanning because eff bombs would fly out of my office like angry bees from a hive.
moving on….here’s the news!
i have a broken finger. it hurts very very much to type and it’s my right hand so photography has slowwwed down.
i am currently undergoing a long term argument with one of my best friends. he wants me to go see the bats with him this weekend, and i don’t want to go. and he won’t drop it! i LOVE bats…but not these bats. these particular bats are rude and over marketed. in fact, i will post a picture of one of his loser bats tonight and you can chime in on what jerks they are for blowing me off last week.
cody bear and pickles are doing great! cody bear has to work tomorrow morning, and in the afternoon pickles has a huge border collie meetup play date.
i had been taking bike rides almost daily, but since i broke my finger i had to cut back. sucks. i’m going to save up for a new mountain bike because for some weird reason….i feel like i need 3 bikes instead of 2. you’re sick, goodbear, sick. but seriously…i would like to start riding in the country side. fun! only problem is … i don’t have any countryside biking friends…..
ok, get back to work everyone! i”ll chat again soon!
and p.s. breakfast was gross…

today, after an hour long walk in the park with the munchkins, i put a pineapple in my kombi bike’s basket and rode to my best friends house.
he gave me the pineapple last week, but i was under the notion that you needed an incredible amount of body strength to cut it up so he would need to cut it up for me. i was very wrong. i ate half the fruit and rode back home.
yes, it’s bungeed. you never know: you could hit a bump, or….a 7 year old could ride into you and tip you over letting the contents of your basket spill onto the ground and you laying there like an idiot while she wheels off on her training wheels. (not that that has ever happened to me or anything…)
here’s why i needed the lazy pineapple trek:
immediately after cody bear and pickles emancipated themselves friday morning, i had to rush to work. my hero, amanda jones, had rented the studio! what an opportunity: me trying to get my dog photography business rolling, her, the best dog photographer in the world, in our studio. it was so cool. she is such a really nice person and so calm with the dogs and people. even after 4 hours of shooting with the same client, she never, not once, acted irritable!
anyway, soaking it all in and being a sycophant is quite exhausting, as it turns out. it was exciting. then, on the drive home: the emotional collapse of realizing…i will never be as good as amanda jones.
wake up early saturday. sister calls with bad news from home. out the door by 7:30 to take photos at 3 different venues. i didn’t get home till noon and i was so sore. up and down click up and down click click click. i shot over 600 frames of dogs yesterday.
rush home, pick up pickles for class. after class….the mall. (i HATE the mall.) but i needed to pick up the harajuku lovers handbag for the birthday girl. and some jeans. (wardrobe malfunction at work this week!)
after more bad news from home, birthday party for apie at cucina italiano.
today is so much more relaxed, but i have to fit all of saturday and sunday stuff in before i go back to work tomorrow. the schedule was tiring, but i think it’s the bad news from home and the feeling that someone is stabbing me in the ankle joint with a steak knife that are running me down the most.
so that’s why i didn’t have time to blog lately. i’m going to start dishes and laundry now. rub some dog bellies. you know the routine…

ooooh. friday. probably the best part of the good day was going out for mojitos with my best friend, followed by a midnight bike ride!
other wonderful parts of the day: going out for thai food with my friend ch. catching the bees sleeping late.
oh…duh…and snuggling with the dogs and cat!
and work wasn’t even so bad. good day. good day.
‘cept i broke my “no-drinking-in-friday-nights-because-i-have-to-volunteer-the-next-morning” rule. damn mojitos
i had a feeling it would.
1. woke up and couldn’t get dog to go outside because of last nights trauma.
2. got to work and hear a loud noise, run to the window. a motorcyclist wrecked. the cops were already there for something else so he got quick response. (and probably a ticket, too) he was going really fast, but thankfully was wearing a helmet. his leg was broken, i’m sure. he was crying out in pain.
3. i’m supposed to finish a project, but….there are no parts. my boss didn’t order enough parts and the project has to be done today for the client.
4. oh, and i have to sit down and talk to my boss about what a d-bag my coworker is being. my boss has been telling me to tell coworker to do things….but….if it comes from me….he blatantly ignores it. won’t even touch the job/return the message/what have you.
5. my boss will think i’m imagining it.
so….someone, please leave a joke in the comments.

that’s right! we try really hard to stay green. but still, there are a few more things we are going to try to work on every day from here on out.
1. i waste food. i do. example. i buy a loaf of healthy bread (about 3.69). then i bring it home and i never eat it. i end up throwing it out when i realize it is probably gross and i have no idea how long it has been in there. i’m not doing that any more!
2. take better care of my health. this way i lower my risk of getting sick as i age and resources won’t be wasted on my healthcare. (that’s the theory, anyway) but you never know. somethings are beyond our control. but, i do want to get into better cardiac health….
3. the world is full of negativity. and hate. i promise from here on out to stop making fun of the flds ladies’ hair do’s anymore. or people in general. just IN CASE my picking on folks is contributing to the planet’s negative vibe.
4. i am going to RE-ATTEMPT to stop drinking soda. the packaging (can, plastic, whatever) isn’t helping this planet. besides it is TERRIBLE for me. i HAVE to quit. (as i sip my icey coke…)
5. ride my bike to the grocery store more frequently. (its a very short ride, but i don’t like riding my bike if i have to buy big things. i just don’t feel comfortable carrying a twenty-four pack of cottonelle on my handle bars.)
ok, that’s good for now. i’ll probably add more soon. we’ve actually been doing a good job at our recent efforts: buying locally grown veggies, new water filtration system, reusing bottles, etc.
…so…i think we’re going to do all right!

good news! i am picking up my little car today from the shop. a brand new transmission, one new motor mount and….lots of empty space in my checking account and savings account. i will also bring back a smokin hot credit card!
here is what my parking spot looks like now. please note that the insurance said the damage was not caused by the accident, like my mechanic said. it was caused by poor maintenance and a long time leak. note the pristine parking spot!
i have parked in that EXACT spot for 6 years. exact spot….6 years….not one single smudge or puddle or stain ….at all.
oh well, time to let the healing begin.
i shall have this here cup of tea to calm my nerves and get me psyched to pick up my little car!
really, i’m ok. it isn’t going to be as expensive as we initially thought, and the mechanic and his manager were so helpful and really worked hard to get me the best deal. that is the best part, knowing i can trust my car in the hands of these folks!
so, …i do here by vow to keep using my bike to go to the grocery store as long as i don’t need to buy a 24 pack of toilet paper. i’m not hard core enough to be seen pedaling my kombi through the city streets with a giant block of cottonelle. i don’t think i’ll ever be that hard core…
