A typical day starts with two Border Collies staring at me expectantly and one Cody Bear pretending to be asleep. The bear does not like to hurry into his day. On this particular day, which happened to be Valentine’s Day and Arizona Statehood Day, he just decided to lay around having “bed head” all over his body and trying to look cuddly. Well done Cody Bear.
The most stressful thing I had to do all day was make chocolate covered strawberries for the my friend’s birthday party that night. Yes….as easy as they are to make I still got stressed. I am always nervous preparing food for people! I don’t want to make anyone sick.
But they turned out well!
In attendance at the party was this lovely cowgirl, Helen. She’s a really good dog!
And another red head, about as sleepy as Cody Bear, Tyko.
A good day for sure. But….the next day was one of the best days I’ve had in so long!
I went for a horseback riding lesson at the base of the Rincons. I was there about 3 hours which included a trail ride that wound through Coyote Creek. I learned so much and smiled all day. It was cool and cloudy and beautiful and …. Yeah…I just smiled and smiled.

there’s a holiday buzz in the air….and it wasn’t irritating tonight because my visiting sister plied me with margaritas!
we took cody bear to the bookstore, then we took pickles to the restuarant for lunch. when they brought us our meal….they brought her a bowl of tri-tip. wtf????
then we relaxed, then we shopped, then we had some yummy chow and hit the holiday lights.

cody bear and i went out with some friends on a mini adventure today. it involved retail shopping and a nice walk at a park.
some dogs had been there before us, gettin’ unruly in the mud…
we had to walk under a bridge the SAME TIME a huge horse did. it was about an 8 foot wide path!
here is the horse’s calling card…
at first cody ignored the horse, but once it was behind us, he fluffed up and acted all macho. “i wasn’t scared of that thing. ”
this was pretty…
as i was taking that shot, a little girl fell over on her bike and landed in the horse droppings behind me. and cut her hand open. the dad kept riding and never turned back for her! i think she was embarrassed, too.
“this is boring,” says cody bear…
way to be supportive cody bear!

vacation! took the trek touring! first time i have ever cycled on a vacation, and, while i’m tired,….i LOVED it. so much better than a car because you’re closer to stuff, and you can just easily pull over and start snapping pics! i totally wasn’t expecting to see horses!
the first half of the ride was mostly down hill and awayyyy from the wind. seemed so easy.
the second part of the journey was mostly uphill and into the wind. i was like…”what the hellllll…..this is HARD.” but i still loved it.
then, we saw some wild bamboo growing in the sand. i don’t think i’ve ever seen bamboo anywhere but a botanical garden.
then, while snapping bamboo photos…. an actual tumbleweed blows by. nice touch. (this was before i was hatin’ the wind)
solar power pains. very nice, very green. its funny to take a picture of solar panels when the clouds are ruining the lighting!
definitely loved the trek today.
