last night i stood on the table in my back yard and took some cloud shots with the new 40d.
it’s monsoon season, so the sky has been thick with clouds.
it’s so sticky and it just won’t rain! we’ve only had a couple lame monsoon showers.
“walk me?”
here’s cody bear after a nice long walk with me and pickles…
now that’s a happy bear.
now i’m off to meet buzzy to take some flower pix. later taters!

hello everyone. it’s me, pickles, cody bear’s border collie sister. he has let me take over his blog to impart some important and sad news.
over 100 border collies have been discovered stranded at an abandoned house in the mid-west this week. (info here)
can you help these special dogs? will you check to see if any of them will be visiting your towns at one of the rescues taking the dogs in? and if they are in your town, will you consider fostering, donating money or food?
if they aren’t in your town, will you please consider mailing a check to one of the rescues to help them pay for their care so they can get the food and medical attention they need?
border collies are special and sensitive dogs. lets wish them the best in their recovery and re-homing. thanks! i’ll keep you posted as more develops.
pickles.
p.s. i am going to chase lizards now!!

so it was saturday and it was time to take the border collies hiking!
4 miles in the mountains. pickles had a great time and the 3 border collies that went all got along great! there was time for them to frolic in the pine needles before the trek began.
a good time to get away from the heat and enjoy the cool mountain air.
bailey enjoyed playing fetch with pine cones the entire way, pickles got to chase a bird and eight ball just was a good boy, pluggin away.
greenery, wildlife, wildflowers, fresh air.
and…
a burro? “who cares?” says pickles, “my border collie friends are leaving without me!”
….
“can we go again?”

yes…he really IS called the “pleasing fungus beetle.”
sorry the picture is so crappy. i only had my point and shoot with me yesterday. these guys were all over when we went hiking in the mountains yesterday morning.
time to review the week.
busy at work. busy at home. busy dogs. the weekend should be the same, but we’re o.k. with that!!!
what we’re not o.k. with is this guy….
cody bear’s nemesis. this cat is the one that occassionally wakes us up in the middle of the night banging on our front door. he pees on everything. he sends his minion kittens over to stare at cody bear.
he’s been here for years and he’s growing more bold. ….we may have to move to a new neighborhood!

one year ago today i brought this gentle yet sassy border collie puppy home.
when i announced i was getting a border collie puppy everyone’s first reaction was…., “how do you think cody bear will handle it?”
he handled it o.k. actually. but she was just terrified of him initially. here she hides from him while he runs hell-on-paws around the yard…
she didn’t know what to make of this fast moving, furry bear.
within weeks she grew confident. she took his toys….she took his chewies…
cody bear was patient…and frustrated.
but mostly, he was afraid to stand up for himself against her. he somehow sensed i would be mad. so he tried to be gentle. tried not scare the puppy.
they learned to share.
one year later…
they’re inseperable. they get eachother goin’.
they’re bff…they’re family.
they play hard. they’re complete opposites.
cody bear and i talked about it. it’s been a year.
we both agree: we love her. she smells bad, she’s constantly dirty, she’s kind of selfish, her nose is always in the wrong place….but…we both love her…and we’re going to keep her.
ha ha! like you would believe me if i told you i would toss her back!?
happy anniversary pickles. you’re our girl.

bwahhhh! can you believe it!!???
